Syed Amjad
A climate change, water management, and agriculture specialist
Syed Amjad is a Climate Change and Natural Resource Management Specialist with 25 years of international experience spanning South Asia, the Pacific, and beyond. He has worked extensively with leading organizations including the World Bank, UNDP, UNIDO, IUCN, SDC, ICIMOD, ILO, and the Commonwealth Secretariat, as well as with the national governments of Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, and Nauru.
His expertise covers the full spectrum of climate action — from policy development and climate vulnerability assessments to NAP costing, investment planning, and climate finance mobilization through mechanisms such as the GCF and GEF. He brings particular strength in mainstreaming climate adaptation into national planning, coordinating with NDAs and accredited entities, and developing gender-sensitive projects.
Over his career, Syed Amjad has designed and implemented more than 20 climate change and water management projects across South Asia and the Pacific. He serves as a GCF International Sectoral Expert (Agriculture) and sits on the Independent Technical Advisory Panel at the Green Climate Fund in Korea. He has also represented Pakistan and Nauru at the highest levels of international climate negotiations, including COP 13, 14, 28, and 29.
